Phillauri Movie Review By Vinay Gupta

With “Phillauri”, Director Anshai Lal has stepped into a new genre, which hasn’t exactly been properly been explored in the Hindi film industry. The film is full of predictable scenes. The portrayal is moderately paced and a few scenes end up feeling very restrained. However obvious these fault, we should not be mistaken that the viewer doesn’t get a charge out of the comedy, the sentimentality and dramatization.

“Phillauri” has rich generation values and masterful acting performances by the lead on-screen characters. Anushka Sharma shows off her unique acting style alongside her co-actor Diljit Dosanjh. Suraj Sharma has demonstrated his comic timing, even experimenting as a rapper!! Mehreen Peerzada is going to be the new crush for several people in the theatre as she charms with her sweet personality and girl next door looks

Despite the fact that Phillauri is certainly not an incredible film, it is no doubt one of the better fantasy films made in Bollywood. It makes you chuckle, makes you cry and all the more vitally engages you well. An exciting story with a detailed screenplay and discussions on current issues are sure to make you laugh out loud.

The other piece of the story involves pulling you back in time to pre Independent India, rather close 1919 to Baisakhi- the Jallianwala Bagh slaughter. I am not a big fan of Diljit Dosanjh, but he demonstrated his skill with his adaptable and flexible acting. There’s never really a scene in the film, where he doesn’t do justice to his part.

My Verdict: Phillauri is not likely to be nominated for a National Award anytime soon but is sure good enough that you shouldn’t feel like your money is being wasted.
